Saint Isaac of Syria says. Just as we have two eyes of the body, we also have two
eyes of the soul. When a man reaches a pure soul,
then God first opens to him one spiritual eye. With this spiritual
eye, he sees the mysteries of creation, of nature. This is called the theory of
beings. Here you see all around us we have trees, we have flowers, we have
grass. All of this is in every little tree, in every little bird, in every little fish in the
sea, in every starfish; all of this is hidden mysteries. Nature is full of
hidden mysteries. These.
This is the And in every mystery, in every creation, in every creature, the
reason, that is, the reason that exists, the cause, the cause that exists is
its reason. Yes. Its reason is a word that means the reason for its existence. This
is the reason for the existence of every creation, is revealed its mystery,
that is, it is revealed only with the grace of God. The Wise Solomon had been gifted to him.
The Wise Solomon had been gifted with this wisdom, the revelation of the theory
of beings. And the fathers say, in fact, Saint Joseph of Peliaiotis says that the
theory of beings is the first revelation that God will give to
man when he wants to reveal his mysteries to him, God gives him the theory
of beings which he says is for beginners, says grandfather Joseph, so
when God opens your one spiritual eye, you see the
theory of beings, that is, you see the reasons for the existence of beings, and in an
experience of grace, man can see all creation
glorifying God. When in this theory, when God acts on man with the grace of
God, what does man do? He sees all creation glorifying God.
Saint Eloanos had reached this point. He had seen this theory, and he explained it.
He explains. He said that every flower, every blade of grass, glorifies God. And
Saint Porphyry had the same experience.
Elder Ephrem the Philotheus also had the same experience. Well, this is the first, the first step of the
theorization. The second step is when God opens your right eye, the
other spiritual eye, and then you see the uncreated light. The uncreated light is the
light, the energy of God, the energy of the Holy Spirit, which
God reveals when He wants, to whomever He wants. But to reach
it, you usually have to reach a pure soul. And Abba Isaac says that, naturally, a person will reach the point of seeing the light of God when his soul is healed
. When both of his spiritual eyes are healed. And as he says, physical
eyes cannot see the light if they are sick, that is, if you do not
have a cataract. You see darkness. Your eye cannot see the light.
But when the eye surgeon heals your cataract and removes
the scale that prevents the light from entering, then you see the light. That is, when
the eye, the physical one, is healed, you see this light of the sun. Similarly, when
the spiritual eye, the two spiritual eyes, are healed, then you naturally see the light of God. You do not ask for it. It comes by itself. So why do we not
see it? Because we do not have a pure soul, and moreover, because God does not allow it now
. Because God does not want us to see it here. He eats his light because he will
oblige us. Well, he is a ruler and does not want to deprive us of
freedom. If you want, believe him. Because all the unbelievers and atheists, if
God showed them his light that shone in favor, would immediately believe.
They could not deny it since it was a terrible experience. Well, so
that God does not force you to accept him, he does not show you now, and wants you
to be saved through faith. And when will he show you knowledge, that is, from faith, when will he lead you to knowledge? When you believe and reach a pure heart. May the
pure heart be that they see God. When you reach a pure heart,
then God will show you his light. Before he wants you to be saved by faith. He does not
show it at the beginning. So you must believe. Go and make disciples of all
nations. Baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Holy
Spirit. The one who believes and baptizes will be saved. Says the Gnostic. The one who believes.
That is, the one who believes in the word of the Apostles, in the word of the gospel, and is baptized in the Holy Pool and lives with repentance in his life, and
he will reach with his ascetic struggle and prayer a pure soul. He will
see God when he reaches a pure soul. Well, then he will know God. That is why
Saint Ophronius explains very clearly what happens when a person sees
the uncreated light that is the light of God and describes it there very beautifully.
He says that it is like this, like this, like this because he had seen it and it is a
testimony, like this, of knowledge of God, and then let God show it, he respects the
mysteries, he constantly calls them mysteries,
which of course God begins and shows you mysteries when he gives you
prayer here in your heart. He begins and shows you mysteries. Well, by
all means, when you see the act in the light, you begin then and see, you
now permanently participate in the foretaste of the kingdom of God, and you live from here the kingdom of
God to the extent that God gives you this experience and life. When you see
the act in the light, this is together. It goes with the fact that it also shows you that
Christ is God. That is, the divinity of Christ is confirmed by the act.
And in fact, Job says, when you see the saints, so that God may bring you to extreme
humility, so that when you see the ak in the light,
then you reach extreme humility and you truly understand what
your nature is that you are dust and ashes, says Job. Before I heard what he says about
you, now that I have seen you, I am dust, with him he says, hun hun and spodon c I consider that
I am dust and ashes. That is why the saints say, and grandfather Joseph used to say, that
man is dust and ashes. Your nature is dust and ashes.
You can do nothing without the grace of God. And you experience this when you see the
ak in the light that you are dust and ashes. You experience it with a sense of soul. That is,
it becomes an experience for you. It becomes an absolute one of knowledge. You know
this. So when you see the bread of light, you have this experience that you are a zero, and at the same time you see the greatness of God, and you compare yourself, who
is a nothing, with the greatness of God, and there you marvel. And the fathers,
the theologians say that by seeing the light, because it is indescribable, because it does not
resemble anything you know, the unknown. Let's go to apophatic theology. You know
God, unknown. That is, you see him, you see a miracle, an amazing
phenomenon in front of you. You marvel at it, but you cannot understand what
it is, and you know God unknown, and that is, you know the mysteries of God in
a way that is unknown and cannot be conveyed in language. This is what the
apostle Paul, when he went to the third heaven and saw the light of the bread,
could not speak and say what he saw because human language cannot
convey these things of heaven
